Heroes Hole

At the 6th Annual Richard M. Catapano Jr. Memorial Golf Outing, our Heroes Hole remains a place of remembrance, reflection, and hope—dedicated to first responders we have tragically lost to suicide.

This year, we proudly honor the life and legacy of NYPD Deputy Inspector Denis Mullaney. Born and raised in Queens, Denis devoted more than 20 years to serving the City of New York. Beginning his career in the 114th Precinct, he rose through the ranks and ultimately served as Commanding Officer of Transit District 20 and the 107th Precinct. His career reflected his deep commitment to the communities he protected and the members of the NYPD he led.

Denis was far more than his rank or uniform. He was a devoted father, husband, friend, colleague, and leader whose loss continues to be felt by everyone who knew and loved him. By sharing his story, we honor not only his service, but the person behind the badge.

The Heroes Hole reminds us that strength does not mean struggling alone. It represents our shared commitment to breaking the silence surrounding first responder mental health, supporting those who may be suffering, and standing beside the families left behind.

Today, we remember Deputy Inspector Denis Mullaney and reaffirm our promise: to speak up, to support one another, and to ensure no hero is ever left behind.
